| Abstract(E) | An Advanced Vehicle Control System (AVCS) not only reduces driver burden and prevents traffic accidents, but also has the effect of smoothening traffic flow. In this paper, we investigate the influence of AVCS on traffic flow. In particular, we investigate the effect on traffic flow rate from the viewpoint of automatic control theory. We also propose a speed control algorithm that enables the vehicles to pass smoothly through congestion-prone areas. |
