Abstract(E) | This article introduces the reader to the relevant aspects of cyber-security for e-mobility. Its goal is to enable readers to take first steps towards protecting this critical infrastructure and business field. In order to give a broad overview of this topic, this article approaches security from several angles: The first approach is focused on trends. It considers the use cases for e-mobility and how their protection against attacks is reflected in current and upcoming standards. The next approach is from a risk perspective. Based on results of the SecMobil research project, it discusses threats to electric vehicles and their supporting infrastructure and highlights the damage a successful attack may cause. This discussion shows that it is necessary to accompany further development of e-mobility with counter measures. These measures are the topic of the third approach. A survey of appropriate protection mechanisms is given that may serve as a first guideline in securing e-mobility for users, OEMs, and utilities alike. |
