| Abstract(E) | Naturally occurring underground hydrogen, known as "white hydrogen," was discovered in Mali and has drawn global attention for its potential to be produced at low cost (around $1/kg). This paper outlines its generation mechanisms, global resource potential, production costs, greenhouse gas emissions, and recent international developments. Japan’s domestic potential is also discussed. Furthermore, we introduce the concept of “stimulated hydrogen,” where subsurface hydrogen generation is accelerated through human intervention. |
