| Abstract(E) | In this study, we investigated reducing the VUV irradiation dose required for modification of a silicone hard coat in plastic glazing for automobile windows by utilizing xenon excimer lamps. We assessed the effects of heating temperature on the surface composition and surface hardness in the modification of the hard coat using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and nanoindentation, respectively. We revealed that the higher the heating temperature during VUV irradiation, the greater the degree of modification and hardness of the surface layer at the same VUV irradiation dose, indicating that heating accelerates the modification and reduces the necessary VUV irradiation dose. |
