| Abstract(E) | Production GDI injectors have been modified for use as high speed sampling valves. Data is presented showing how, when used with existing high frequency response emissions analysis equipment, cyclic measurements of hydrocarbons (indicated AFR) and CO2 (indicated trapped residuals) can be made with rather easily. It is shown that the high speed sampling valve concept (which we dub the CSV) is adequately rugged, and can be used for extended periods. The CSV employs a unique sampling method, which eliminates pressure interference in the gas sensor unit. |
