| Abstract(E) | Internal combustion engines still play a vital role in realizing the low carbon society. For spark ignition engines, further improvement in thermal efficiency can be achieved by increasing both compression and specific heat ratios. As the first step toward the idealization of internal combustion engines, development has been proceeding for Mazda gasoline engines ranging from 1.3L to 2.5L with the aims of establishing combustion technology to realize high-compression combustion, improving pumping loss and further reducing mechanical friction loss introduces the performances and the technologies of the 1.3L gasoline engine, which is the first product among the engines to be brought to the market. |
