| Abstract(E) | An extensive study was conducted on the ¼ scale model to understand the effect of moving floor. A detailed ¼ scale model was built and tested in the scale model wind tunnel of the FKFS in Stuttgart and the numerical simulation was done using PowerFLOW. Four different underbody panels were used giving five different car configurations. The absolute drag difference between experimental and PowerFLOW results are obtained as low as 0.5% for static and moving floor conditions. The accuracy was mainly governed by the wind tunnel pressure gradient, the wind tunnel jet effect and the geometry accuracy. |
