Translation |
| Abstract(E) | We have developed a method to analyze ECSA more accurately than ever. ECSA was conventionally calculated from hydrogen adsorption or desorption current of CV measurement. However, quantifying ECSA by this method is difficult because of the overlap of the large hydrogen evolution current. In this study, we filled cathode catalyst layer with perfluorohydrocarbon solvent, when a CV measurement was performed. Under this condition, hydrogen evolution reaction shifted to 0 V. Furthermore, utilizing the difference of the sweep rate dependency of the currents of hydrogen evolution reaction and that of the hydrogen adsorption, we could separate the latter current. The ECSA calculated from the resulting hydrogen adsorption current was consistent with the total geometrical surface area of Pt particles that was estimated from XRD. |
