| Abstract(E) | This study presents a comprehensive approach to improving fuel economy for K-cars. Engine geometrical parameters—such as bore and stroke, compression ratio, connecting rod length, and intake valve timing—were optimized to enhance thermal efficiency using quality engineering tool. Building on these optimized parameters, a vehicle simulation model was integrated with quality engineering tools to determine the specifications of a parallel hybrid system. The proposed methodology enables the design of a hybrid system capable of achieving a WLTC (hot) mode fuel economy of 40 km/L, demonstrating the effectiveness of combining engine design optimization with hybrid system configuration for next-generation K-cars. |
