| 抄録（英） | Deteriorated useful field of view (UFOV) is a well-documented risk factor of traffic accidents particularly in elderly drivers. Nonetheless, little is known about important issues, such as the impact of deteriorated UFOV on driving behavior and preventive methods against UFOV decline. In the current study, we thus aimed to tackle such issues by examining various aspects of elderly driver characteristics in terms of the UFOV. Consequently, we found that (1) adjustment ability of vehicle speed was compromised among elderly drivers with relatively low UFOV; (2) elderly drivers were hardly aware of deteriorated UFOV in everyday life; (3) driving itself or a certain use of vehicles might have a positive training effect on the UFOV. Based on these empirical evidences, we argue the possible countermeasures of UFOV decline in the elderly. 翻訳 |
