Abstract(E) | Countries around the world are beginning to aim for carbon neutrality as a solution for global warming. Hydrogen is a clean energy that will play an important role in realizing this objective. In 2014, Toyota Motor Corporation launched the first-generation Mirai equipped with a mass-production fuel cell system (called the Toyota Fuel Cell System, or TFCS) to help promote the use of hydrogen. The completely redesigned second-generation Mirai was launched in 2020 with the mission of providing a starting point toward the realization of a hydrogen energy-based society. This paper introduces the technical challenges of the second-generation TFCS installed in the new Mirai, which was designed to help achieve the full-scale popularization of hydrogen energy. |
