Abstract(E) | Highly diluted combustion is expected to contribute the improvement of thermal efficiency for generator specific high efficiency engines. To achieve highly diluted combustion, it is necessary to reduce cycle-to-cycle variations of IMEP. In this study, in-cylinder charge motion concept that leads to the high tumble and stable flow around spark plug was established based on in-cylinder visualization and hot-wire anemometer measurements. This gas flow design consists of valve seat-less technology and a low aspect ratio combustion chamber with enlargement of valve angle geometry. As a result, high thermal efficiency was realized with stable combustion under highly diluted combustion conditions. |
