| Abstract(E) | This paper shows the significance of compact city policies in a society with a declining population and explains urban policies to realize such policies. From the relationship between transportation and land use, the role of advanced transport systems in guiding a city toward a compact city was shown. In the latter half of the paper, Utsunomiya City was discussed as a policy case study, introducing its compactification policy and LRT introduction, as well as its future development and prospects. |
