Abstract(E)	This study investigated the mechanism of pedal misapplication from the perspective of human cognitive processing. A hypothesis was proposed that pedal misapplication occurs through the interaction between inappropriate schema activation and attention deficits. A driving simulator experiment was conducted to examine the validity of the hypothesis. The results suggested that the frequency of inappropriate schema activation and attention deficits were associated with the occurrence of pedal misapplication.
