| Abstract(E) | In order to make clear the oil consumption mechanism of automobile engines, theoretical calculation formulae have been proposed for the oil and gas flow behind the ring, drain holes and gaps of an oil control ring (OCR). Using the formulae, the oil flow through OCR into the piston 3rd land is predicted. The prediction suggests the amount of oil accumulated beneath the upper side rail highly affects the oil-up flow into 3rd land throughout the cycle. |
