Abstract(E) | Advanced combustion technologies, like highly boosted and lean or dilute combustion had increased the challenges of ignition control. It is an important key to find out a suitable ignition strategy for developing a next-generation spark ignition system. In this study, simultaneous visualization by two kinds of cameras was carried out. Three kinds of ignition coils were employed to investigate the impacts of discharge characteristics on ignition performance under different experimental conditions. Results suggest that an ideal ignition system for improving ignition performance needs to extend discharge duration when increasing the dilute ratio and enhance discharge current when increasing flow velocity. |
