Abstract(E) | Independent suspension axles are commonly used in vehicles, which have driveshaft for torque transfer whilst compensating vehicle motions, and hub bearings to endure load. The integrated drive axle (or IDA) combines the two to reduce weight, increase axle stiffness, decrease joint angle, and eliminate interface issues. Mainly, EV and performance vehicles can benefit from IDA application. Our goal was to make sure IDA passes existing driveshaft and hub bearing engineering specifications, and also create new verification process that guarantees it would not fail during vehicle life cycle. This paper introduces IDA development contents and its engineering design validation process. |
