Abstract(E) | To meet quickly evolving and stringent performance targets, automotive manufacturers typically select permanent magnet electric motor designs. As magnetic materials represent an important fraction of the cost an electric motor, additive manufacturing can be an innovative solution to accelerate the development of high-performance, low-cost permanent magnet machines. This presentation will review the state of development of additive manufacturing of soft and hard magnetic materials. A special focus will be placed on its potential to solve the technical challenges faced by electric motor manufacturers and on the required improvements for its successful deployment in electric motor fabrication. |
