Abstract(E) | This paper presents the serie of experiments on submersion of fully charged and heated Li-ion battery (LIB) in DI water and seawater, aiming to enlighten the knowledge on LIB Thermal Runaway prevention. The experiments were carried out by submersing full coverage of LIB cells. The voltage reduction was measured and LIB Thermal Runaway was observed throughout the experiment. Then, filtered solutions were analyzed using XRD and FTIR to evaluate possible corrosion reaction and organic electrolyte leakage. Afterward, heated LIB was submerged to observe voltage, temperature and Thermal Runaway prevention. The results showed that Liquid-Submerged Technique prevents LIB Thermal Runaway effectively. |
