Abstract(E) | Sound proof structure such as dash silencer is partially cut-out for wire-harnesses that are passed through from an engine compartment to a passenger compartment. In this paper, the edges of the cutouts are proposed to compress to improve sound transmission loss (STL). STL of the proposed structure is numerically compared with the conventional sound proof structure whose edges are opened up in the surrounding air. The effects of the number and the area of the structure are also investigated. Sound transmission loss is enhanced with the compressed edges of the cutouts in low and mid frequency range below 2 kHz. |
