Abstract(E) | The objective of the PIONEERS Project was to achieve a greater understanding of injuries incurred while riding a Powered Two-Wheeler (PTW) as well as the protection given by both Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and on-board safety devices that were being developed by PTW OEMs. In order to provide better physical data for the development and optimization of enhanced safety systems for PTW, new tailor-made frontal and lateral crash test methods have been developed. This paper focuses on the frontal test mode, developed in the PIONEERS Project, evaluating motorcyclist protection by means of PPE for pelvic retention and onboard safety devices. |
