Translation |
| Abstract(E) | X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) analysis was applied to metal-containing additives in engine oil for fresh oil, oil after normal operation, and samples subjected to different conditions. Differences in chemical states and local structures depending on usage conditions were identified for the target elements. Under specific conditions, an increase in components exhibiting ionic-like behavior, possibly associated with coordination by water molecules, was observed. These results indicate that the local chemical environment of metal-containing additives can vary significantly with operating conditions. |
