Abstract(E) | According to the Paris Agreement, 46% decarbonization compared to the FY 2013 level and the ultimate carbon neutrality are required beyond FY 2030 and towards 2050, respectively in Japan. To achieve the target, a drastic reduction in CO2 emission has become one of the most significant challenges in the transportation sector. The associated technologies of next-generation vehicles, energy and fuels are compared in term of the effect of CO2 emission reduction and energy efficiency and availability. The comparison focuses on internal combustion engine, hybrid, electric and fuel cell vehicles as well as on electricity, hydrogen and synthetic fuels. |
