Abstract(J)ガソリンエンジンの熱効率向上のため,筒内流動を強化し乱れによる燃焼促進を目指す.シリンダ内流動のエネルギーの増大を図るため,吸気管内において吸気管軸方向の流れに加え,垂直方向の旋回流動を与えた.この流動がエンジン性能にもたらす効果を調べた結果,最適点火時期,図示平均有効圧力および図示熱効率が変化することが明らかとなった.この手法により,シリンダ内流動と燃焼を制御できる可能性があるものと考えられる.

Translation

Abstract(E)A new technique is proposed in order to improve the performance of gasoline engines at lean mixture operation in this study. A swirl guide vane was installed in the intake tube of a single-cylinder engine to generate a swirl flow motion and increase kinetic energy of the intake charge. Pressure in the cylinder and indicated thermal efficiency were increased with this swirl guide vane. Kinetic energy of the in-cylinder flow might be increased and, at the same time, combustion might be enhanced by the modified intake charge flow motion. This result shows that this technique might further improve the thermal efficiency if it is well optimized.
