Abstract(E) | In this study, we aim to develop a recognition system for approaching objects in blind spots reflected in road safety mirrors using on-vehicle camera while ego vehicle is moving forward. In order to observe the transition of the approaching object under ego motion, we convert the input images into pseudo-same viewpoint taking advantage of visual changes and feature point correspondences in static area, i.e., the region outside the objects within the mirror region. The effectiveness of the method was verified by taking videos under the examiners-driven ego and other vehicles. The result confirmed that when the viewpoint conversion was successful, our method could recognize risky events more accurately than our former study without considering ego motion. |
