Abstract(E) | Super lean-burn is one of promising technologies to improve the thermal efficiency of SI engine. This article reports on the spark discharge characteristics and the ignition process in super lean-burn SI engine based on experimental data such as discharge current, discharge duration, combustion duration and in-cylinder photograph. The results implied that the ignition process could be evaluated by Peclet number, and the ignition ability and the early stage of the combustion process were strongly influenced by an effective discharge duration and the elongation of the spark channel. |
