| Abstract(E) | Although the number of road traffic fatalities and injuries is decreasing every year in Japan, the authors believe that in addition to pre-crash and crash safety technologies, it is necessary to focus on post-accident rescue system in order to achieve zero fatalities in road traffic accidents. Advanced Automatic Crash Notification （AACN） system can predict occupant injury severity based on crash data captured and stored on a vehicle’s event data recorder （EDR）, using an injury prediction algorithm. In Japan, an AACN system named “D-Call Net” has been trialed since 2015 and has been in full operation since 2018. The algorithm using Japanese macro crash data has been developed into versions 2015 and 2017. This paper provides an overview of the algorithms and the D-Call Net system. In addition, the process leading to the establishment of the JIS and current ISO activities are presented. |
