Abstract(E) | A body frame of a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and the structure around the battery case require high collision safety performance and the protection of the battery. In this study, for BEV battery protection, we focused on a steel energy absorption (EA) member with a wave structure mounted inside the sidesill. The study clearly shows that the EA efficiency of the member was affected by both of the buckling behavior which varied with the shape and thickness of the member, and the material strength. In particular, the EA efficiency is increased significantly with the increase of a material strength when the amount of the out-of-plane deformation decreased. |
