Abstract(E) | Considering sever emission regulations in near future, it is important to reduce engine oil consumption for reduction of particular matter in exhaust gas. The purpose of this research is to clarify the mechanism of oil transportation by oil film thickness measurement. The result shows the reduction of oil film thickness between side rail and oil ring groove. Inclination of side rail is increased by asymmetry shape, then the sealing performance of upper side rail to oil ring groove was enhanced. Reduction of oil flow up to 3rd land from oil ring groove is most effective for reduction of oil consumption. |
