Abstract(E) | For a conventional pedestrian collision detection bumper which uses accelerometers attached to sheet metal, further improvements in detection robustness after a low-speed collision and vibration sensitivity are desired. In order to restore deformation after a collision, a cantilever sheet-shaped structure made of resin was developed. This cantilever structure can bend and rotate to absorb energy by using a hinge as its pivot point, maximizing available stroke and reducing residual parts stack-up. Vibration sensitivity performance was increased by combining this new structure with a pressure tube sensor for collision detection. |
