| Abstract(E) | Hydrogen fuel cell (FC) hybrid powertrains are a zero-emission option for port yard tractors (YTs), whose high peak power, low average power, and frequent start-stop operation challenge battery-electric solutions. A software-in-the-loop (SILS) model of an FC hybrid YT-80 kW FC stack, 90.7 kWh battery, 310 kW motor-is built in MATLAB/Simulink with IPG TruckMaker. A representative duty cycle from 191 in-service trips shows 22 kW average and 232 kW peak power. The baseline rule-based supervisor yields bimodal FC operation, motivating a proposed ECMS with a PI-based adaptive equivalence factor to shift FC operation into its high-efficiency region while sustaining charge. |
