Detailed Information
Scope | Assuming the new adoption of a semiconductor device product (hereinafter referred to as a “semiconductor product”) on a vehicle, this technical paper applies to quality verification methods for semiconductor products with a particular focus on 1) semiconductor products adopting new manufacturing technology and 2) semiconductor products adopting multi-resources (i.e., multiple manufacturing locations or multiple material suppliers). In addition, this technical paper also presents guidelines related to approval processes involving three parties: the vehicle manufacturer, Electronic Control Unit (ECU) manufacturer, and semiconductor manufacturer, not only two party processes between the semiconductor manufacturer and it's customer. (In other words, this paper applies to all relevant parties involved in processes from the semiconductor manufacturer to the vehicle manufacturer.) It is assumed that the start timing of quality verification in a new adoption approval depends on the individual development timings of the vehicle/ECU manufacturer, and that reviews and other approval processes are carried out in accordance with existing operations of the vehicle/ECU manufacturer. Therefore these guidelines do not extend to actual operational procedures. However, as the basic approach for carrying out procedures, it is assumed that the ECU manufacturer will initiate new adoption approval processes with vechcle/semiconductor manufacturers, based on validation evidence prepared by the semiconductor manufacturer for the target semiconductor products in accordance with theses guidelines. |
