抄録(英) | Reducing accidents in the intersection right-turn in left-hand traffic is one of the important keys to reduce the overall accidents occurring in the urban area of Japan. Our research group has focused on the intersection turning scenario especially when the oncoming traffic may be occluding a darting-out motorcycle or bicycle, and developed a driver assistance system to avoid collision with the darting-out object from the blind spot. The main concept of the driver assistance system is that the Autonomous Emergency Braking System is triggered to decelerate the vehicle to a safe speed thereby avoiding collision even in situations under which the object darts out from the blind spot. This paper proposes a safe speed calculation method by taking into account the visibility of the onboard sensor. The paper also looks at the performance evaluation of the proposed driver assistance feature for collision avoidance in a subject driver experiment on the driving simulator. The experiment revealed that the proposed driver assistance system could cooperate with the driver and decelerate the vehicle speed effectively by the moderate braking interventions. 翻訳 |
