抄録(英) | Heat treatment distortion (bending deformation) is occurred by carburizing, quenching, and tempering in of transmission shafts. Bending deformation brings increase in leadtime by added bending correction process and defective parts, therefore reduction of bending deformation is highly required. However, fundamental countermeasures for the occurrence of bending deformation are not developed since the mechanism of bending deformation is unclear. In this study, we assume that bending deformation is mainly caused by temperature gradient due to part shape and oil flow. In order to investigate the influence of part shape and oil flow on temperature gradient, quenching was conducted while measuring part temperatures and distortion was estimated through simulations. It was found that bending deformation is mainly caused by temperature gradient due to part shape and the principal element of distortion is plastic deformation occurred in the early stages of quenching. The verification of the findings showed that the bending deformation could be reduced by controlling the temperature gradient caused by part shape.
